Boo!

I'm sorry to say that it's my final challenge post with the gals over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge! My guest designer gig has been so much fun and I really appreciate being included with this great group of chicks for the past several months! My final project is a halloween collage card that blends together lots of my cherished spooky papers together for this ghostly winged vampire girl! This card is really sparkly and I love how the pearlized paint on the green ouija board piece illuminates her face with an unearthly glow!

Please head over to the challenge blog and let's see what you can create! And give the Chicks some love on their blogs as well!

Hello!

Thanks for stopping by this week for another CAS Challenge over at the Krafty Chicks! This quick birthday card uses one of my favorite Ellen Hutson Sets - "Voices in My Head" with that giant speech bubble die and cute line drawing! All that I needed to add was a large word die cut and a teeny stamped sentiment to finish up the design! YAY!

Please stop over to see us at the Krafty Chicks Challenge this week for some clean & simple fun!

Be sure to head over to the Krafty Chicks' Blogs and leave them some love!

Christmas Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #727 - Christmas

Welcome to the "Throw Back Thursday" Edition - and we're going way, way back for this one the very first Christmas card I ever made in 2001!

My mother passed away in 2022 and my dad ended up selling/moving out of our family home of 56 years in 2023. He made sure that I got the large box that held the hundreds of handmade cards that I had given them over the past two decades. My mother had saved them all and it was such fun to look at each one and read all of notes I had written to them both over the years! Included in the collection was this Christmas card, the first one I ever made and still one of my favorites! It was made without most of the latest, greatest crafting tools/products I have today and just goes to show that a simple handmade card, means the world to the person who receives it!

I hope you will join us this week over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge with your Christmas projects!

Thanks for joining me today and happy crafting! Rachelle

Halloween Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #727 Stamps

Boo!

We are inching ever closer to my favorite card-making holiday...HALLOWEEN! So I took the opportunity to kick things off with these gorgeous gals for this week's Krafty Chicks' Stamp Challenge!

I used a large red rubber stamp for this card (it's probably over 15-years-old!) and stamped the retro ladies on white card stock and fussy cut them. I then stamped them again on two different orange card stocks and fussy cut out the dresses on each, which were then carefully pieced onto the white images. I stamped the skinny black witches hats, fussy cut each one and added a bit of glitter and orange rhinestones; these were then glued into place!

I cut strips of coordinating patterned Halloween paper and adhered it to the front of a 5' x 7" card base, adding a piece of mini orange ric rac and a die cut yellow moon to set the spooky scene! The witches were popped up with foam tape and pressed into place on the card front. I gave the witch on the right a pumpkin scepter, sliding the pin under her fingers/into her hand and attached it with a glue dot on the back!

I always look forward to stamp week and can't wait to see what you create! Be sure to head over to the Krafty Chicks' Blogs and leave them some love!

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

Independence Day/Memorial Day Cards | Krafty Chicks Challenge #726 - All Occasions

Hello and welcome!

I've got a couple of cards for you today that could be used for either Memorial Day or the July 4th Independence Holiday and this week's theme over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge is "All Occasions" so I hope you will join us for challenge #726!

I've got a lot of family members (both past and present) who have served in the U.S. military, including my father-in-law who will be 99-years old this year and was in WWII. My husband and I were lucky enough to be in Normandy two years ago on D-Day and witness the French celebrations to honor the brave men and women who fought against the Nazis to free them from the German occupation. It was amazing to see the reverence and homage paid to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the French people. We got to visit several of the beaches where the U.S. forces landed, the military cemeteries, the wreckage of landing boats and bridges, German machine gun turrets and saw hundreds of restored U.S. Army vehicles with locals dressed in vintage uniforms. It is also the only place where both the U.S. and French flags fly together side-by-side - it was an experience I will never forget and such a beautiful place that is forever linked to so much senseless destruction. Here are some photos of that trip!

I can't wait to see your projects this week so please and link them up over at challenge #725 and be sure to head over to the Krafty Chicks' Blogs and leave them some love!

Thanks for joining me today and happy crafting!

Birthday Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #725 CAS

Hi!

I'm back with another CAS design for this week's theme over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge and as usual, I needed a few more birthday cards! This older monster set from MFT needed a little love and I chose to pair this happy guy with a variegated washi tape border underneath and a simple stamped sentiment to finish the cards! Easy Peasy! Sometimes I just need a well-designed birthday card that doesn't require special padding and extra postage - this one fits the bill! (I know I could have added googly eyes for my little great-nephews, but I restrained myself!)

I love seeing your CAS creations so please and link them up over at challenge #725 this week and be sure to head over to the Krafty Chicks' Blogs and leave them some love!

Christmas Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #724

Hello!

It's Christmas Week over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge and I've got this bright red cardinal to share!

I pulled out some old pattern paper that I am trying to use up - it may take me the next 30 years or so to get through it all but I'm up to the challenge! I chose mini stripe and abstract snowflake patterns and adhered them to the card front, using a ribbon to hide the seam. The edges were inked with red ink and the sentiment was stamped with the same color. I drew the cardinal and swirl freehand and hand cut the pieces since the shapes were simple. I glued the pieces together and used a small black brad for the eye. The shapes were then adhered to the card to finish up the card.

I hope you will join us for some Christmas in July fun this week and be sure to head over to the Krafty Chicks' Blogs and leave them some love!

Birthday Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #723 - "Stamps"

Hello!

It's "Stamps" Week over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge and I hope you will join us with all of your creative stamping projects! It's birthday season for me (it seems it's always birthday season!) and I've got a double color way of this digi stamp from Graciellie Design to share today!

This simple corner floral spray can be used in vertical and horizontal positions with lots of space to stamp a greeting! I love it! I printed the image onto 110# white card stock, watercolored and trimmed it down to 3.75" x 5". I spattered the background with diluted paint and added a bit of bokeh effect with some distress oxide that I stenciled through a circle die cut into a piece of scrap paper. The entire panel was spritzed with shimmer mist and spattered with paint. I glued the panel to a top-folding card base and added a few sequins to finish up the design!

Please pop in and say "Hi" to the other Krafty Chicks and check our their awesome projects!

All Occasion Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #722 - "All Occasions" Week

Hello!

It's "All Occasions Week" at the Krafty Chicks Challenge and here's a colorful card that tells the recipient how wonderful they are! I think we could all use a card like this from time to time! I hope you will join us this week for some crafty fun!

This design started with the great neon sign image from an old Stampin' Up set that I watercolored in a primary palette and fussy cut. The yellow background was stenciled, trimmed and attached to a top-folding A2 card front. I die cut the comic window from royal blue card stock and attached it to the background; the sign was backed with foam tape for a bit of dimension and adhered to the card center. A few sequins, confetti and gold starts were added to finish up the design.

Please pop in and say "Hi" to the other Krafty Chicks and check our their awesome projects!

All Occasion Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #721 - CAS Week

Hey there!

It's everyone's favorite challenge week over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge - Clean & Simple!

This challenge can sometimes pose a problem for me but in this case, I dreamt about this design one night and then I woke up and created it with a little help from my favorite washi tape pattern! My hubby tells me I have crafting on the brain at all times and I think he might be right!

I stamped the Jeep image onto 130# white card stock and then watercolored\fussy cut it on the outside line. I brushed the outside edge with a black Sharpie marker to get rid of the white paper outline and covered the back completely with foam tape. I ran a line of the tire track washi tape at an angle on the front of a top-folding A2 card base, popped the Jeep in place along the top and stamped the sentiment using my MISTI. I was so happy with the way this design turned out and it's going to a very special older couple who actually still drive a convertible Jeep and because they both have beautiful white hair, their license plate reads..."Q-TIPS"!

I hope you will join us this week with your CAS creations and leave some love for the Krafty Chick Gals!

Thanks for stopping by today and happy crafting!

Christmas Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #720 - "Christmas" Week

Hello and welcome to Christmas Week at the Krafty Chicks Challenge!

I wish it felt a bit more wintery here in North Carolina but the temperatures are about to explode into the upper 90's this weekend! I love it here in the winter but the summers can be brutal!

This mini-slimline design came together as I was trying to use up some pattern paper scraps in my Christmas folder! I simply mixed-n-matched a couple scraps together with a vintage Santa image to create this collage-style card! A tiny spring clip was added to a mini tag with ribbon and velvet rickrack accents. Buttons and brads finished up the design as the key embellishments!

I hope you will join us this week for some winter inspiration! Please stop by and share some love with the Krafty Chicks!

All Occasion Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #719 - Stamps Week

Hello!

It's "Stamps" Week over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge and I hope you will join us with your wonderful stamped (Digital or Inked) creations!

I chose to use a couple of digital stamps from Graciellie Designs for this sunny, summery design! I sized the separate images to fit an A7 card front, printed it out on 110# white card stock and watercolored the image. The image was trimmed down to 4.75" x 6.75" and attached to a dark yellow panel, which was then glued to the A7 card base. I added a die cut word sentiment and a spattering of sequins to finish up the card.

We would love to have you share your stamped projects with us this week and be sure to visit the Krafty Chicks to see their wonderful creations and say 'Hello!"

All Occasion Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #718 - Anything Goes

Hello!

We're back this week over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge with week 5 and that means "ANYTHING GOES"! Today I've got a mixed media card that features some vintage-inspired washi tape, hand stitching with beadwork and some antique buttons from my grandmother's sewing drawer!

I covered a piece of 130# white cardstock with strips of washi tape, aligning them right next to each other to cover the panel, and then attached a piece of skinny cotton lace to cover one of the seams. I added some stitching and beads to the lace and a bit more to a strip below, matching the colors to the washi tape.

The antique dress form image was stamped onto kraft card stock and the edges were inked. I cut the image down to fit a skinny tag, distressed the edges with sand paper and attached a peachy silk ribbon to the top. The collage images and sentiment were stamped with similar colors and distressed to coordinate.

The tag was popped up with foam tape and attached to the washi tape panel. I added the collage pieces, buttons and bobby pin to finish off the front panel, which was then attached to a black card base.

Please join us this week with our Anything Goes Theme and share some love with the Krafty Chicks!

Birthday Card | Krafty Chicks - All Occasions Week #717

Hello!

This week we are featuring "All Occasions" over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge #717 and I chose a giant floral digital image from Graciellie Designs to split in two for a couple of birthday cards!

The image was printed in the middle of an 8.5 X 11" piece of white card stock and cut right down the middle. I randomly ink smooshed Distress Oxides onto the flowers, spritzed and spattered them with pearlized watercolors. Then I went back in and added just a bit more color to the petals/centers to bring the flower into focus. Here's what it looked like at this point:

I stenciled a small flower design onto the right panel for some added texture, trimmed the two sides down to 4.75" x 6.75" and attached them to different colored backgrounds. The card fronts were adhered to card bases, the sentiments were stamped and some sequins and pearls were added to finish up the designs. I love using pearls but sadly, they don't travel well in the mail for me, however, this card went to my next-door neighbor and so I was able to handle deliver it along with some homemade strawberry ice cream!

I hope you will join us for some crafty fun this week at the Krafty Chicks Challenge! Please stop by and see the awesome projects the Krafty Chicks have created!

All Occasion Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #716 CAS

Hello!

I've got a CAS shaker card for the #716 Krafty Chicks Challenge this week! CAS designs can be challenging for someone who likes to color like me but this great word die from MFT made it easy peasy! I created a mixed media background using Brushos Powders and watercolors in lots of different blues and set is aside to dry under a stack of heavy books!

I glued two panels of 130# white card stock together and die cut the word towards the top center; this panel was then cut down to 3.75" x 5". I adhered the blue background to the front of a top-folding A2 card front to fit underneath the shaker panel. An acetate window was attached to the omit panel and backed with a double layer of craft foam. The exposed edges of the foam were brushed with anti-static powder and the skater bits were piled onto the front. I attached the front panel over the embellishments and glued the word into the window to finish up the design!

I hope you will join us over the Krafty Chicks Challenge this week with your own CAS creations!

Christmas Card | Krafty Chicks Challenge #715 - Week 2 Christmas

Hello!

It's Week #2 over at Krafty Chicks Challenge and that means it's Christmas Week! I've got a fun snowman card for you today filled with lots of polka dots! I stamped, colored and fussy the snowman image and added a lime green mini pompom on his hat!

I attached the dotted pattern paper and coordinating card stock to a top-folding 6" square card base and covered the seam with a piece of bright navy grosgrain ribbon. I die cut a circle from a similar blue color, glued it in place and popped the snowman up in front of it with foam tape. The sentiment was stamped with a navy ink using the MISTI to finish up this design!

I hope you will join us this week at Krafty Chicks for some Christmas fun! Be sure to check out what the Chicks are up to by popping over to their blogs!

Birthday Card | Angie Blom Designs "Coolest Chicks Ever" | Krafty Chicks Challenge #714 - Week #1 Stamps

Hey there!

It's Week #1 over at Krafty Chicks Challenge and that means it's time for some stamping! I decided to go with a very apt theme - Angie Blom's "Coolest Chicks Ever" digital stamp set! We raised chickens when I was growing up and they looked a lot like this one at the top!

I sized the chick with the flower necklace (kind of like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo?!?) to fit an A2-sized card front and printed it onto 100# white card stock. I trimmed the panel and ink blended the background with Distress Oxides, leaving a bit of white space around the chick. I watercolored the image and attached this panel to a top-folding card base. I created the two sentiments on the computer and die cut them both. A strip of red gingham pattern paper was adhered to the bottom and the sentiments were attached on top; a few blue sequins were added to finish up the design!

I just love the expression on her face! I decided to do a second card with one of the other images in the set, "The Chick With The Giant Glasses" and I think I like this one even more than the first! I colored her like a Bantam Hen (we raised this type of chicken, too, and these feisty "Banties" would chase me around the barnyard!)

I really like Angie Blom's illustrations - they have a touch of whimsy and imperfection that I find really fun to work with! This is what the set includes:

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you'll join us over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge for Week #714 - Stamping! And check out what the Krafty Chicks are up to!

Happy crafting!

Valentine's Day Card | MFT - Pure Innocence "Love You Bunches" | Krafty Chicks Challenge #713 - All Occasions

Hello!

Here's a CAS paper piecing project for "All Occasions" week at the Krafty Chicks Challenge! This 'Pure Innocence' cutie is entitled  "Love You Bunches" and while this card could be used for lots of different reasons, I sent out several of these for Valentine's Day!

The image was stamped both on white and polka dot papers with VersaFine Ink. The dotted dress was fussy cut and set aside. I watercolored and die cut the PI image, adding one additional blank die cut to the back. The dotted dress was glued onto the watercolor image and backed with foam dots.

I die cut the pink card stock strip with a border die. trimmed it to fit an A2 card front and adhered it into place. I popped the image on top, stamped the sentiment and added several translucent pink hearts to finish up this card! I hope you'll head over and join us this week with your All Occasion Projects!

Birthday Card | Graciellie Designs - "Cupcake Wishes" | Krafty Chicks Challenge #712 Week 3 CAS

Hey there!

It's week #3 over at Krafty Chicks Challenge and that means CAS! I decided to go with one of my favorite birthday images from Graciellie Designs' "Cupcake Wishes" digital stamp set and I absolutely LOVE this cupcake image!

I printed the image on 80# white card stock, watercolored and trimmed it to fit an A2-sized card base. The wide sentiment is from one of my most-used stamp sets, Simon Says Stamps' "Birthday Greetings." This great set has nothing but birthday sentiments in all sizes/fonts and has a matching die set as well! The heat-embossed sentiment was cut to size and glued onto the card front.

I also made a second color way for a very special little girl who loves PINK and here is that version -

I hope you will join us over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge for some 'Clean & Simple" FUN!
