Halloween Card | Whimsy Stamps - "Haunted Graveyard Border Die"

Hello!

I've got a great die-focused design for you today featuring just a few bits and pieces and a sparkly, inked background! I started this card by creating two backgrounds: 1) the sky panel with a combination of Distress Oxides (Blue Ribbon, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot), Brushos Colour Crystals (Prussian Blue), and Kuretake Tambi's Gem Palette Watercolors; 2) the haunted house scene using mostly Black Soot and the bright pearlized blue in the Kuretake Set.

The foreground panel needed to be a lot darker in value to show up against the night sky and after I cut the the scene using the "Haunted Graveyard Border Die", a bit of gold paint was added to the roof line and tree tops where the moonlight would naturally reflect. When I decided where the house should be located, I trimmed the piece, added some yellow card stock to the back side to light up the windows and glued it to the sky panel; this entire piece was adhered to a top-folding A2 card base.

I wanted the moon to loom large over the house and used the dimensional die from the "Howling Night" Die Set, which has a great "de-bossing" feature! I lightly inked the die and ran it through my machine with white card stock. The de-bossed areas had amazing shaded color so I just spritzed it with some shimmer mist, spattered some gold metallic watercolor to the surface and the moon started to glow! One additional die cut was added to the back for some dimension and the moon was glued onto the sky panel.

I wanted one large bat to be flying toward the viewer in the foreground and so I die cut/trimmed just the bat from the "Spooky Large Word Die" from textured, silver paper. This specialty paper adds just a bit of highlight and texture to this die cut and looks almost ghostly against the sky! Here again, I added one blank die cut behind the bat and attached it in place on the front.

As usual, I always forget to heat-emboss my sentiment until after the entire card is put together and then nervously hope that I don't mess it up! I wanted a simple greeting that would fit at the bottom and this one from the "ATC Autumn Ghosts Clear Stamps Set" was perfect! I love this scritch scratchy-looking font that almost screams "HALLOWEEN!" I prepped the area with anti-static powder, stamped the sentiment with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Ranger's "Princess Gold"  Powder. Whew! Glad when that was successfully done! YAY!

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting!
Rachelle
