New Home | MFT Stamps - In Paris & Town Bear | Pop-Up Card | Alphabet Challenge - "K" is for Kraft Paper

Hi there!

My nephew and his wife just bought their first house and here is the congratulatory card I sent to celebrate this happy event! I created a CAS design using two now-retired MFT Stamp sets - "In Paris" & "Town Bear". This card features a simple kraft paper palette and easy pop-up surprise inside! I chose this palette for our new theme over at the Alphabet Challenge "K" is for Kraft Paper and we would love to see how you use it in your projects!

I cut an A2-sized panel with a hemstitch die and glued it onto a side-folding white card base. After I stamped & die cut a selection of trees/houses on both white and kraft card stock, I started to play with the pieces. I decided to focus in on one house, keeping it white and adding a color pop with one mini red heart; all of the components were glued into place and the sentiment was stamped directly on the card front.

I used additional MFT Dies (all retired) to create the pop-up feature on the inside by die cutting the "Our Town" silhouette on both kraft/white card stock and gluing the pieces together. This panel was trimmed to 4.5" x 3.75". I glued/stacked two of the large MFT "You" die cuts together and adhered it to the town panel - the sentiment was stamped just below.

To create the folding pop-up box, I cut an 11" long strip of white card stock 2.5" high and scored it at 1", 5", 6" & 10". I burnished all of the folded score lines and glued the two end pieces together to create my box. Two sides of this box were adhered into the middle fold (one to each side) and even with the bottom. Here's a quick sketch : )
All that was left was to glue the town panel to the front of the box! You get a lot of bang for the buck with this pop up! Thanks so much for joining me and we can't wait to see your kraft-y projects over in our gallery!

New Home | Cut It Up! Challenge #206 - Shaped Card | Ellen Hutson - "Backyard Bird Friends"

Happy Fri-YAY!

Our challenge over on the Cut It Up! Blog this time is a "Shaped Card" so we would love to see anything other than a standard rectangle! I needed a card to congratulate my wonderful nephew on the purchase of his first home and I decided to use an arch shape! This card features lots of die cuts (MFT Stamps/Lawn Fawn) and cute stamped images from Ellen Hutson's "Backyard Bird Friends".

I created the folded arch card base and covered the front with Lawn Fawn gingham paper. The birdhouse was die cut multiple times from different cards stocks and glued/stacked together, which gave this image lots of dimension. The wooden post was stenciled with a wood grain pattern and all of the birdhouse pieces were glued to the card front. The green grass strip was die cut, ink-blended along the bottom and adhered to the front of the card with foam tape. I added a heat-embossed sentiment banner, small jute bow and the pretty stamped/colored Cardinal to complete the card front. I used more of great images in this stamp set for the inside greeting!

We can't wait to see your shaped card projects over in our Cut It Up! Challenge Blog Gallery - and remember, don't forget the die cut!

New Home Card | Avery Elle - Happy Home

Hey There!

The card today is for my niece who just bought her first home! She is a young nurse (at 24) who has been saving every penny to put towards a down payment on a house and kudos to her - she did it! This square Z-Fold card measures 5.5" (short folds 2.75") and features the Avery Elle "Happy Home" dies and "Shut the Front Door" stamp set.

The dark blue card base was scored at 2.75" & 5.5". I used Lawn Fawn's "Cloud Border Die" to create a template from heavy weight card stock, sponged the clouds onto a piece of white card stock, sprayed it with shimmer mist and cut the following pieces: (2) 2.5 x 5.25" (1) 5.25 x 5.25". These cloud background pieces were adhered onto the coordinating scored panels. The grass panel was die cut with Lawn Fawn's "Grassy Border Die" and scored at 5.5 & 8.25". Both sentiments were stamped into place with the MISTI.

The pieces for the house were die cut, embossed, and glued together onto a piece of white card stock to ensure stability. The flowers were embellished with small floral sequins and a tiny brad was added as the door "knob". The house was then glued onto the center of the large grass section and the entire piece was glued onto the left card panel only with very strong liquid adhesive. The opposite side of the grass border was aligned and glued as well to the right edge of the card - thus creating the "Z"-Fold mechanism. I created an additional interior tab behind the house, adhered MFT's "Stitched Sun" to one end of a 1/2" piece of acetate and taped the other end to the tab to create the floating sun in the sky behind the house.

I submitted this card in the "Celebrate - Friends - Family - Life" Challenge on the "time out" CHALLENGES site.
