Hello and welcome!
I've got a couple of cards for you today that could be used for either Memorial Day or the July 4th Independence Holiday and this week's theme over at the Krafty Chicks Challenge is "All Occasions" so I hope you will join us for challenge #726!
I've got a lot of family members (both past and present) who have served in the U.S. military, including my father-in-law who will be 99-years old this year and was in WWII. My husband and I were lucky enough to be in Normandy two years ago on D-Day and witness the French celebrations to honor the brave men and women who fought against the Nazis to free them from the German occupation. It was amazing to see the reverence and homage paid to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the French people. We got to visit several of the beaches where the U.S. forces landed, the military cemeteries, the wreckage of landing boats and bridges, German machine gun turrets and saw hundreds of restored U.S. Army vehicles with locals dressed in vintage uniforms. It is also the only place where both the U.S. and French flags fly together side-by-side - it was an experience I will never forget and such a beautiful place that is forever linked to so much senseless destruction. Here are some photos of that trip!
