Halloween Card | Picket Fence Studios - "Whooo Are You?"

Whooo's ready for some Halloween fun from Picket Fence Studios?

It's Release Day and the August line-up is filled lots of Halloween goodness! I'm starting out with this awesome NEW "Whooo Are You" Stamp and coordinating Die Set! I couldn't wait to color up this scary image with a little backlighting focus from that full moon!

I die cut a circle and used the negative opening to ink blend my moon with "Squeezed Lemonade" & "Fossilized Amber" Distress Oxide Inks. I placed the circle back on top of the moon and blended the night sky with "Salty Ocean", "Chipped Sapphire" & "Black Soot" DOI's. I removed the circle and lightly blended the yellows onto the blues to soften the outer rim and create some moon-glow! The entire panel was spritzed with water, spattered with metallic watercolors and with the circle placed back over the moon, diluted blue inks were flicked onto the sky as well. This panel was trimmed down to fit onto a 5.5" square black card base and I stamped the sentiment (from the "Fancy Autumn Sentiments" Stamp Set) onto the moon.

Using my MISTI, I stamped the large owl image onto 110# white card stock with Picket Fence Studios' Black Hybrid Ink. The image was watercolored with a backlight technique that would show the golden halo effect of the moonlight shining on him from behind, and I added the same coloration to the leafless branch, shading some of the areas to match the sky so they would disappear into the background. I love how his eyes perfectly match the moon! The image was die cut and backed with an additional blank for dimension. I inked/painted the edges of this die cut stack so that there would be no white showing, attached it to the card front with foam tape and added a bit of shine with sequins from the NEW "Pumpkin Cookies" Sequins Mix Plus.

This may be one of my favorite all-time Halloween cards and it's taken up residence on my drawing table for now...his glowing yellow eyes seem to be warding off any bad mojo from entering my craft room! : )
