BOO!
I've got another super fun die cut card for you today featuring Whimsy Stamps' "Arched Window Die" and the "Peeking Ghosts Die Set!" After I figured out the basic design for this hinged window card, it was pretty easy to put together using these great die sets!
The arched window was die cut three times from a medium gray card stock, glued together and lightly shaded on the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink. I used one of the negative cuts to trace the shape onto white card stock and hand-cut the image, which was then inked blended with Distress Oxides and spattered with metallic ink/white paint. I hand cut an additional panel from heavy-weight black card stock and glued it to the back for stability.
The "Peeking Ghost" image was die cut twice from white card stock, glued together and the edges were lightly shaded with ink. I gently inked a piece of heavy vellum (#40 weight) with Hero Arts' Unicorn Ink and then die cut the spider web on the reverse side. After I determined the web's placement, it was trimmed to fit and adhered to the back of the window frame with sticky craft tape. An additional black window was glued to the back to cover the web/finish the interior and the peeking ghost image was glued into place.
I randomly inked several colors onto white card stock, sprayed it with shimmer mist and die cut a circle for the moon; an additional die cut was glued to the back for strength. The bats from the "Elvira Moonlighting Die Set" were cut three times and glued together for dimension/strength. I always do this if die cut shapes will be "hanging out in space" in order to give them a bit of added protection during their trip through our postal system! The moon/bats were then glued into place on the night sky background. A skinny black folded hinge made from 110# black card stock was added to the left side to create the card opening.
At this point, I wasn't sure if it needed a sentiment or not (as usual, waiting until the last minute to figure this part out!) but I decided to see if I could put something simple together with some smaller die cut letters! I came up with just enough space to fit the word "BOO!" into the lower corner by cutting apart the word "Goosebumps" from the "Chills Word Die Set" and I was thrilled with the way it turned out - everything looks like it was meant to go together!
Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting!
