Hello!
I've got a card today that was made with a NEW product from Whimsy Stamps and it's called the "NoFuss Instant Mask." These pre-cut masks align with Whimsy's stamp sets and make the layering/ink blending techniques super easy! I was lucky enough to receive the "NoFuss Mask" Set that matched my "Halloween Night" Stamps and chose to create a full moon graveyard scene!
Each package of "No-Fuss Instant Masks" contain 4 separate pre-cut adhesive sheets with the images to match the stamps - see photo above. I stamped my witch image on an A2 panel with medium gray dye ink, gently peeled off the coordinating mask and placed it on top.
I stamped my graveyard scene from the "Halloween Scream" Clear Stamps Set over the mask - first with a light pink and then with the same medium gray dye ink. I wanted the graveyard to have a pink-ish tone since the sky was going to be a rose palette.
I die cut a circle, covered the stamped graveyard and ink blended the sky around the 'moon' with "Spun Sugar", "Kitsch Flamingo" and "Picked Raspberry" Distress Oxide Ink. I added a little "Black Soot" around the outer edges of the panel to give it dimension, spritzed it with shimmer mist and spattered it with water/gold paint.
The circular omit was inked with "Antique Linen" and "Scattered Straw" to create the moon glow. When I was happy with the blending, I carefully removed the mask by peeling it up from the bottom where there weren't a lot of small pieces and it left a totally clean masked image! The mask held up well with heavy pressure and did its job perfectly.
Next I watercolored the witch image and she blended right into the background! The panel was attached to a top-folding A2 card base and I added clear sequins to finish up the design.
I have not used this masking technique very often because I didn't like the process of stamping/carefully fussy cutting the masks and then hoping they remained put while I ink blended on top. This NEW NoFuss Mask aligned perfectly on top of the stamped image, held up well with heavy blending pressure and peeled off cleanly; I would give them high marks and recommend them for use with this technique!
