Halloween Shaker Card

Kinda Sp-o-o-o-o-ky!

Sharing another Halloween card with you today! There are two versions of this design - the first is a shaker and the second is a more simple, layered style! I'm still not sure which one I like better so if y'all have an opinion, please let me know in the comments!

Using a cloud stencil, I ink-blended the backgrounds using a circle die cut as a mask for the moon. Once the cloudy sky was complete, I used the negative circle die cut as my mask to color the moon! The panels were spattered with water/gold metallic paint and then adhered to the front of top-folding A2 card bases.

Using the Cricut, I die cut the cat/tree silhouette image, painted the cat's features on a small piece of white paper and glued it behind the face so that the golden eyes/pink ears & nose would pop against the black card stock. For the shaker card, I adhered acetate behind the silhouette frame, built up the shaker base with double-thick foam tape, added a pile of shaker bits to the center of the card and attached the window panel on top.

In this second version, the silhouette panel was simply glued directly on top of the stenciled panel and mini matte gold stars were added to finish up the card. This card does have one major thing going for it...I will be able to get away with standard postage when it gets dropped off at the post office!

Thanks so much for stopping by and can't wait to read your comments! : )

  7. Ooo, I love them both! I was about to say that a shaker element is ALWAYS better, but then I saw the simpler version and your silhouette panel stands out boldly against the colourful background, and it's gorgeous! This card definitely needed two versions! Love your background! Thanks for sharing these with us at Digi Doodle Studios!
