Christmas Card | Christmas Craft Creations - "Christmas Trees" | Ellen Hutson / Julie Ebersole - "Lil' 'Squatch"

Greetings from 'Squatch Country!

As soon as this little guy was introduced by Ellen Hutson, he jumped right onto my wish list! The "Lil' 'Squatch" stamp set, created by Julie Ebersole, has such great images and I was so excited to use them in this shadow box card! This is my design team submission for the June challenge over on the Christmas Craft Creations Blog and our theme is "Christmas Trees".

This project is based directly on Dawn Woleslagle's (Wplus9) great YouTube Video and here is the LINK! This shadow box card measures 4.5" x 6.5" so it's a bit larger than the cards Dawn created but still fits into an A7 envelope. Sometimes I try to stuff too much into my shadow box scenes so I wanted to keep this one simple and just focus on the foreground trees with the 'squatch enjoying the snowy winter sunset!

There are three separate ink-blended panels which help indicate back/middle/foreground. The sunset background was glued directly to my back panel, the navy die cut tree line was scored/attached as described in Dawn's video and the light blue snow drift insert was glued behind the front die cut panel opening. This box card is only 1/2" deep so creating just one middle layer is all you need to add a lot of dimension!

I stamped/colored and die cut the images, stacking one blank behind the trees since they were going to be "floating" in the front opening. The sentiment was stamped the onto the snow drift and the completed front panel was attached to the back with strong double-sided tape. The squatch/trees were glued in place and I attached a stack of small star die cuts to the tree top and card face. I just  love♥ those gigantic feet!

  4. OH I DO LOVE this Squatch so much! What a fun shadow box - doesn't he look so happy to be front and center? Or maybe it's the sunset that's making him smile?
